Evo Challenge Hots Up

The fifth round of this years Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge takes place next Saturday, 20th July, the Swansea Bay Rally hosting the next event in this high profile series for Group N Lancer Evolutions, the rally also being also the fifth round of the Kumho National Rally Championship.

The event takes place in the forests north of its home town in the Vale of Neath, with five stages covering a total of 70 competitive miles on the gravel forestry roads.

Following the previous round last month, the Mutiny Rally, Mark IAnson and co-driver Graeme Walker currently top the Evo Challenge table. Having finished in the top three on each of the four rounds so far, their consistent form sees them with a two point lead over previous series leaders Jeremy Easson and Nigel Gardner, whos non finish on the Mutiny drops them into second.

After recording their first Evo Challenge win last time out, Anthony Willmington and Andrew White consolidate their third place in the series, but are now only one point behind Easson/Gardner.

Fourth place is held by Kevin Stevens and Stewart Foley, whos title hopes were set-back on the Mutiny Rally with a big first stage off. However, Promax Motorsport have rebuilt their Evo 7 and they will be looking to make up for lost ground in Swansea.

Joining the Evolution Challenge for the first time on this event will be John Morgan and his co-driver Andrew Sankey, bringint the total of registered crews to 15, 11 of which will be contesting the Swansea Bay Rally.
