Moh ‘Buzzing’ Following Terrific Britcar Performance At Brands Hatch
Leeds and Tockwith Motorsports (TMS) driver, Moh Ritson, described race two of the third-round of the Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship as his “most enjoyable of the season so far” following a thrilling weekend at Brands Hatch.
The 16-year-old A-level student from Woodhouse Grove was embroiled in a fiercely-contested four-way battle, which included a class-two Ferrari, during the second race of the weekend.
Moh displayed outstanding skills in both attack and defence, as he looked to win the ‘race-within-a-race’ battle: “Including myself, there were other Ginettas, BMWs, Aston Martins and Ferraris all fighting for position. It was tight, clean racing, where each driver was on the limit and knew that any mistake would be punished.
“The Ferrari was tough to overtake, as it had a power advantage on the straight, but I managed to pass it on the outside around Druids, whilst a BMW went around the inside of the Ferrari, which meant we were three-wide. It meant myself and the BMW were side-by-side as we exited the corner – it was fantastic!”
Moh rallied to finish sixth in-class, which was richly-deserved, after some rotten luck in race one. Moh’s team-mate and mentor, Sarah Moore, had to pit the TRICO-sponsored Ginetta G50 after recognising there was damage to the differential during the opening lap.
Thanks to some outstanding work by the TMS mechanics, the car was able to return to the track, with three laps to go, to take the chequered flag.
There was another example of brilliant teamwork during the second race, as TMS managed to release Moh, following his driver change with Sarah, in-between another Ferrari and a Seat, which proved pivotal in terms of gaining track position.
Moh added: “The TMS team has been superb and helped me tremendously during my first three races in Britcar. From my team-mate, Sarah, to the mechanics, everyone does their bit and means we can maximise the performance from the car and each other. The pit-stop strategy worked perfectly, and I can’t thank for the team enough for all its efforts.”
Here comes the rain!
The weekend marked a first for Moh, as he drove a rear-wheel car in the wet. During qualifying, the rain became heavy and the track conditions deteriorated quickly, but Moh stayed calm and managed to record the three laps needed during the session.
Driving the car proved a huge challenge, as Moh explained: “There was a lot of spray! It was so difficult to see! In those conditions, the car was really difficult to drive and I needed to stay calm and concentrate.
“The car felt like it wanted to do its own thing, so it was important I gained control and understood what needed to be done to keep it on the track.”

The Britcar family moves on to Donington Park for round four, with the race weekend set to begin on Saturday 1stJune.
