Yorkshire’s Moh Ritson Aims To Maintain Momentum Ahead Of Second-Round Of Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship

Leeds and Tockwith Motorsports , Moh Ritson, admits he wants to be fighting for silverware as the season progresses, as the 16-year-old looks to improve on his superb points-finish on debut in the second-round of the Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship.

The Woodhouse Grove A-level student and reigning champion, Sarah Moore, return to the cockpit of the TRICO-sponsored Ginetta G50 at Silverstone this Saturday (27th April), and while his senior motor racing debut was a ‘dream come true’, Moh admitted there is more performance to come and knows how he can improve:

“After the first race, we were all on a high. It’s a competitive class this year, with lots of cars fighting for podiums and the win, so we all need to be ready from the very first practice session.

“We want to be challenging at the front, featuring in the top-five regularly, so I need to adapt my style and listen to the advice that Sarah and the team gives me. One of my biggest challenges is appreciating the difference between sprint and endurance racing, how to avoid locking the wheels and sliding the car, which will help maintain the performance of the car in the later laps.”

In preparation for this variation of the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, Moh has been pumping in the laps on his race simulator, a tool that has proved invaluable in-between races. Also, away from the track, Moh has been gearing up for his gold Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) award expedition by walking 70km between Ilkley and Ripon with a group of eight friends.

The dummy run was designed to prepare them for the four-day/three-night expedition later in the year. With just 10 hours sleep across three days, while carrying a full load of food, a tent and his belongings across the Yorkshire Dales, it was a gruelling test, but Moh’s endurance fitness ensured he completed the walk comfortably and feels ready to take on the real thing.

“I had to show determination to make sure we got the points we did, and I hope we can enjoy battles with our rivals once more this weekend, with the TRICO car coming out on top!”

The focus has now switched back to Silverstone, though, and while Moh is excited at the prospect of demonstrating his defensive skills once more, following a resolute performance last time out, he is keen to showcase his overtaking skills as well:

“I had to show determination to make sure we got the points we did, and I hope we can enjoy battles with our rivals once more this weekend, with the TRICO car coming out on top!”

Once again, Moh’s TRICO-sponsored Ginetta G50 will be supported by his personal sponsors – Novo, Co-ordSport, Premier Martial Arts Leeds, Fusion Learning, Moran Personal Training and Fusion by Design – which will be ever-present throughout the 2019 campaign.

Moh’s family will also be in attendance, which includes a VIP, as Moh explained: “My grandad will be joining us this weekend, as he lives quite close to the circuit. He doesn’t come to many races, so to have him watch me this weekend will be very special.”
